A
former television anchorman, Mr. Burton works as a lawyer in Los
Angeles. He grew up in Southern California, earned his degrees
from UCLA and Yale Law School, and now lives in La Cañada
Flintridge with his wife
and
two teenage children.
Mr.
Burton says, "I have always been drawn to children's literature,
even during law school. Several years ago, I took a sabbatical
from
my day job, enrolled in children's book writing classes
at
UCLA, and joined the Society
of
Children's Book Writers and Illustrators. I began reading everything
I could about the business of writing.
"These
efforts led to the
publishing
of my first book, The Whale Comedian (1999). My second
book, Dear Mr. Leprechaun (2003), is actually the first
of a three-part companion set." Fooling the Tooth Fairy
(Fall 2004) is the second book in the series.
Mr.
Burton divides his time as a husband, father, lawyer, publisher,
and writer.
